         <head>Scope and Contents of the Collection</head>
         <p>Glass stereographs of battle scenes taken in France during World War I.  Nearly all the images show the destruction caused by the war.  The photographer is unknown, but was probably French as the hand-written captions on the slides are in French.  The library also has modern prints and negatives of the image on one half of each slide.</p>
