This collection is in three folders and contains exam questions, newspaper articles, and black and white photographs. Historical Note

Computer science was first taught for credit at Smith College in 1972 by Bert Mendelson, who was the founder of the program. The Department of Computer Science was established in 1988 by college president Mary Maples Dunn.

Scope and Contents of the Collection

The Computer Science Department records, 1979-85 and 1993, contain materials describing the courses, students, and faculty of the department. Types of materials include a final exam, newspaper articles, and black and white photographs of students and faculty.
